We recently updated our Google Analytics to GA4, as Universal Analytics will stop being supported by Google starting July 1, 2023. If you haven't already, you can migrate over to Google Analytics 4 as well by following the instructions provided here.
Using Google Analytics with Bandcamp
If you’re a Bandcamp Pro or Label user, you can gather detailed statistics about your visitors by connecting Google Analytics to your Bandcamp account. To learn more and sign up for Google Analytics (which is free, by the way), click here. Once you have an account, just follow these steps:
-
Set up a profile for Bandcamp on Google Analytics.
-
Click here to sign up for Google Analytics.
-
For “Account Name,” enter “Bandcamp” (or whatever you prefer).
-
For “Property Name,” enter "Bandcamp Analytics" (or whatever you prefer)
- Follow the prompts until you get to the "Start collecting data" page and choose "Web".
-
For "Website URL", enter your Bandcamp URL ({{current_domain}}).
-
For "Stream name", enter "Bandcamp" (or whatever you prefer).
- Copy the "Measurement ID". It will look like G-123ABC456DEF.
Note: You can leave the other settings alone. In particular, don’t copy the code from the box that says "Install your Google tag". We do that for you.
-
-
Add your Tracking ID to your Bandcamp account.
-
Head over to the Google Analytics section of your Bandcamp Profile page. In the field labeled Tracking ID, paste the code copied above.
-
Click Save.
-
-
Wait.
It can take up to 24 hours for Google to begin showing results from your Bandcamp pages.
