You must own or control all rights to everything you upload. That means covers are out, unless you have a written license or authorization from the owner of the composition to upload the cover to Bandcamp. Do not upload cover songs unless you have obtained all permissions and authorizations in writing! These requirements apply regardless of whether you’re selling the music or giving it away.
You’ll need:
A performance license for streaming.
A mechanical license for downloads.
Some third-party licensing organizations can help you obtain these licenses. Once you have those, you're set—but keep that paperwork on hand in case we need it for anything.
To avoid the possibility of your music being removed, make sure that you have the necessary licenses or permissions before uploading music that uses someone else’s work.
