Depending on what you purchased and which payment method you used, you may need to contact either Bandcamp or the seller directly to request a refund.
Here’s how to request a refund:
Physical merch
If you paid for physical merch and there is a problem with your order, you'll first need to contact the artist or label directly using the ‘Contact’ link on their Bandcamp page.
In some instances, artist or label accounts may be registered as traders, or professional sellers. In these cases, your purchase may be protected by EU/UK consumer laws. Eligible items* shipped to the EU and UK have at least a 14-day return policy upon receipt of the item.
Per DSA regulations, buyers in the EU and UK can initiate returns with a withdrawal form sent to the artist or label. Buyers are not obligated to use this form, and we encourage you to contact the artist or label directly from the ‘contact’ link on their page with the following information: item purchased, date of receipt, request to return as it may result in a much faster response.
Bandcamp has provided a model withdrawal form below:
*This right to return does not extend to custom-made physical products and perishable goods, unless otherwise specified by the artist or label.
How can I determine if my purchase was from a trader?
Artists and labels on Bandcamp now have the ability to define themselves as a “trader”. This means that we have verified their identity and that if you are located in the EU or UK, any physical item that you buy from them can be returned within a 14 day period from the day you receive it and that you are protected by EU/UK consumer laws in relation to this purchase. Traders will display a ‘sold by’ in their buy now dialog and have specific details about your right to return on their returns page.
Not all artists and labels on Bandcamp are registered traders, or professional sellers – sales from these pages are not eligible for the protections listed above. These sellers are still absolutely wonderful talented artists and you should support them nonetheless.
Digital purchases
We will issue refunds for digital purchases that have not been downloaded and/or purchases for which you can provide a valid, verifiable reason for the refund. Please note: refunds can only be issued within 180 days of the original purchase date.
If your digital purchase has audio problems, missing tracks, or another issue that may be solvable with simple coordination with the seller, first get in touch with the artist or label directly to request that they re-upload the files or add the missing audio. Just click the “Contact” link on the lower right-hand side of their page.
For everything else, contact us, and please provide the following:
- The reason you are requesting a refund.
- The URL, or release title and artist name, of the item you purchased.
- Your Bandcamp transaction ID and/or PayPal transaction ID, if applicable.
